    Jan Manek's update

    Hi all,

    on September 22, 1998 is predicted occultation of TYC 0495 01755 by (921) Jovita. I have just finished reduction of astrometry by Ron Stone (USNO/Flagstaff) using 22 of his 23 positions covering three months, rejecting the one from June 16, for computation of new good quality orbit (RMS 0.06", 0.05" in R.A. and DE respectively). Together with ACT star position this update leads to very slight eastward shift and time correction about +2 minute compared to Goffin's nominal prediction. Uncertainity of this prediction should not more than 0.1" or 150km.

    The updated path runs currently across southern Sweden (17:45:30 UT, twilight), eastern Poland (17:46:30 UT), western Ukraina, Romania (17:47:30 UT), eastern Bulgaria, western Turkey (17:48:30 UT), just misses Cyprus and runs over Sinai peninsula (17:50 UT) and more to the south.

    Taking into account the uncertainty, also observers in Litua, Belarus, eastern Slovakia and middle East should try to observe this event.
