                        IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
                (52) Europa/GSC 1297 01080 event on 1998 October 3
visible from Portugal, Spain, south France, Italy,
                            former Yugoslavia, Romania

    Summary
Shortly before midnight of 1998 October 3 the large 312 km asteroid (52) Europa will occult an 12 mag star near the Orion/Taurus border. The data gives quite good path location crossing areas with many observers showing over 30 seconds long occultation but the magnitude drop is about 0.5 mag only. EAON list gives incorrect observing window for occultation !! Correct observing window is 23:27 - 23:35 UT for whole Europe. For more detailed circumstances consult the chart.
