IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
(489) Comacina / PPM 175124 event on 1998 November 6
visible from Siberia, Khazachstan, Caucasus, Turkey and Crete
Summary
On the evening November 6, 1998 will be occulted 10.0 mag star by a 144km
asteroid (489) Comacina. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO
astrometry for asteroid and ACT star position. The updated path is shifted
to SE by about 2 path widths and about 1 minute later than Goffin's nominal
prediction. Unfortunately this path runs over areas with probably no observers.
Although uncertainity isn't large, observers in Greece, Cyprus and middle East
may try to observe this event.
