           (980) Anacostia / TYC 1893 00464 1 event on January 11/12, 2000
visible from Russia, S Finland, middle Sweden and Norway
                                 and northern Florida

    Summary

In the night January 11/12, 1999 a 10.3 mag star TYC 1893 00464 1 will be occulted by a 89 km asteroid (980) Scylla. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and ACT star position.

The updated path shows large ~0.5" north shift with occultation time ~0.5 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

The path of this occultation runs over northern Russia ~23:43 UT, southern Finland ~23:44 UT, middle Sweden and Norway ~23:45 UT. The path then runs over Atlantic Ocean, at ~23:50 UT just SE of Newfoundland's Cape Race. USA territory is entered shortly before 23:53 UT just south of Jacksonville, Florida. Later path runs to twilight.
