                        IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
              (859) Bouzareah / TYC 5557-00709-1 event on April 7, 2000
            visible from S Thailand, Sri Lanka, S India and middle Africa

    Summary

    In the night of April 7, 2000 a ~9.6 mag star TYC 5557-00709-1 = PPM 228273 will be occulted by a 77 km asteroid (859) Bouzareah. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and Tycho-2 star position.

    The updated path shows extremely large ~1.1" southern shift with time ~1.9 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
    This puts the path completely off the European continent.

    The path of this occultation runs over S Thailand ~22:42 UT, Sri Lanka at 22:43.5 UT and very southern India 22:43.7 UT. Later path runs over middle Africa but no details are given in this note.

     * uncertainty in time [s]: 20
     * map: below
     * remarks: Path uncertainities are given according to nominal star
        position errors and expected asteroid positional accuracy.
