                        IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
           (590) Tomyris / HIP 69631 = SAO 120368 event on May 4/5, 2000
visible from N Iran, N Iraque, N Syria, S Turkey, Greece, S Albania,
S Italy, Pyreney (France/Spain border) & N Spain in Europe and
                           Newfoundland in North America

    Summary

In the night of May 4/5, 2000 a ~8.2 mag star HIP 69631 = SAO 120368 will be occulted by a small 41 km asteroid (590) Tomyris. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and Hipparcos star position.

The updated path shows no shift with time ~0.3 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

The path of this occultation runs over N Iran ~0:13.5 UT, N Iraque ~0:14 UT, N Syria ~0:14.5 UT, S Turkey ~0:15 UT, Greece ~0:16 UT, S Albania ~0:16.3 UT, S Italy 0:16.7 UT, S Corse and N Sardegna ~0:17.4 UT, Pyreney mountains (France/Spain border) with Pic du Midi in path & N Spain ~0:18.5 UT in Europe. After crossing Atlantic ocean path runs over Newfoundland ~0:23.5 UT.

Keep in mind the 3.5 path width uncertainity - angular diameter of asteroid is very small. As the expected duration is around 3 seconds only, be as accurate as possible in timing the event.
