IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (752) Sulamitis / mu Gem = HIP 30343 event on November 20, 2000 visible from NE USA, western Canada and Alaska Summary
In the night of November 20, 2000 a 2.9 mag red giant variable star mu Geminorum = SAO 78297 will be occulted by a 66 km asteroid (752) Sulamitis. This update is based on USNO (Flagstaff+Cerro Tololo), Table Mountain Observatory and St.Andrew astrometry for the asteroid provided kindly by Ron Stone, Norbert Zacharias, Bill Owen and Fiona Vincent respectively and Hipparcos star position.
The updated path shows ~1.7 path width north shift with time 0.2 minutes later compared to nominal prediction and path shown in Sky&Telescope February 2000 issue. Other update information can be found here.
For path details look at attached charts - path is greyed. Event will not be instant; disappearance and reappearance can take up to 3 seconds. Extremely favoured event.
Good weather and good luck !
