IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (479) Caprera / TYC 0740-00269-1 on December 9, 2000 visible from SE China, N Burma, NW India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, N Iran, N Iraq, Turkey, Greece, S Italy, S Spain and Portugal Summary
In the night of December 9, 2000 a 10.1 mag star TYC 0740-00269-1 will be occulted by a 78 km asteroid (479) Caprera. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and Tycho-2 star position.
The updated path shows ~4 path width north shift and time ~0.9 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
The path of this occultation runs over SE China ~21:15 UT, N Burma ~21:17 UT, NW India ~21:21 UT, Pakistan ~21:22 UT, Afghanistan ~21:23 UT, N Iran ~21:26, N Iraq ~21:27 UT, Turkey ~21:28.5 UT, Greece ~21:30.5 UT, S Italy ~21:31.5 UT, S Spain and Portugal around 21:34 UT.
