IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
(223) Rosa / TYC 1926-01137-1 on December 24/25, 2000
visible from S Ukraine, N Moldova, Slovakia, Czechia,
S Germany, Luxembourg, SE Belgium and north France
Summary
In the Christmas night of December 24/25, 2000 a 10.0 mag star TYC 1926-01137-1 will be occulted by a 91 km asteroid (223) Rosa. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and Tycho-2 star position.
The updated path shows no path shift with time ~0.7 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
The path of this occultation runs (besides Asia) over S Ukraine ~22:55 UT, N Moldova and N Romania ~22:56 UT, Slovakia ~22:56.8 UT, mid-south Czechia ~22:57.5 UT, S Germany ~22:58 UT, Luxembourg amd SE Belgium ~22:58.5 UT and north France around 22:59 UT with Paris just south of shadow path.
Within path uncertainties are also south Poland, N Hungary, N Austria, whole Slovakia, Czechia and Belguium, south Netherlands and south England. Please check the path chart for details.
This event seems to be promising, it may be a nice gift under the Christmas tree. Best wishes, nice Christmas time and clear sky. Jan.
