                          IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
                (972) Cohnia / TYC 02356-01537-1 on October 21/22, 2001
               visible from Ukraine, very SE Poland, N Slovakia, Czechia,
                    mid Germany, Belgium, very N France and Florida
    
    Summary 

    In the night of October 21/22, 2001 a 10.8 mag star TYC 02356-01537-1 will be occulted by a 79 km asteroid (972) Cohnia. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and Tycho-2 star position.

    The updated path shows large ~0.6" north shift with time ~4.0 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs oven Ukraine ~2:44-2:47 UT and the rans along Slovak-Polish border ~02:47.5 UT, Czechia 02:48.5 UT, mid Germany ~21:49.6 UT, Luxembourg and Belgium ~02:50.5 UT, north tip of France at 02:51 UT and very SW tip of Cornwall at ~02:52.5 UT. Later then path hits south Florida ~03:10 UT and south Mexico with Yucatan ~03:12-03:13 UT. Please check the path chart for details.

    Although uncertainty is almost 2 path widths and star is faint, I consider this event as rather promising. Those having larger telescopes should try to monitor this event.
