    Summary

In the evening of November 28, 2001 a 10.1 mag star TYC 2261-00506-1 will be occulted by a 112 km asteroid (1467) Mashona. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and Tycho-2 star position.

The updated path shows ~0.5" west shift with time ~0.8 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

Updated path runs over Finland from NE ~20:26 UT to SW with Turku on east limit ~20:28.3 UT. Western limit grazes coast of Sweden with Stockhokm just out at ~20:28.7 UT. After crossing Baltic sea path runs over land again ~20:30 UT- over NW tip of Poland with Sczecin and NE part of Germany with Berlin in path ~20:30.5 UT and SE Germany with Munich on east limit at ~20:31.6 UT. At 20:31 UT path runs also over western Czechia with Pilsen just out of path ~20:31.1 UT. Around 20:32 UT Austria west of Innsbruck, Lichtenstein and SE Switzerland are in path. Around 20:32.5 UT NW Italy is in path with Milano on centerline. Thenafter path grazes Corse and runs towards Africa. Within path uncertainties are also places, please check the path chart for details.

Large brightness drop with star high in the sky and long event duration makes this a very promising event - please give a try. Plese also try to contact observers in the path (uncertainty) areas and inform them about this promising event.

I wish all observers clear skies !!!
