                          IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
            (416) Vaticana/ SAO 59862 = TYC 2450-00492-1 on January 5, 2002
visible from China, Turkey and north Africa

    Summary

In the evening of January 4, 2002 a 10.0 mag star SAO 59862 = TYC 2450-00492-1 will be occulted by a 90 km asteroid (416) Vaticana. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and Tycho-2 star position.

The updated path shows ~2.0 path width north shift with time ~0.9 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

Updated path runs over China ~18:45 till 18:49 UT and Turkey ~18:52.5 UT to name some countries. Of European countries has marginal chance of seeing occultation only south Greece at 18:53.5 UT and Creta Island is in path that moment. Please check the path chart for details.
