IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
(667) Denise / TYC 5378-00407-1 on January 7/8, 2002
visible from Haiti, Dominican Rep. and Texas
Summary
In the night of January 7/8, 2002 a 11.1 mag star TYC 5378-00407-1 will be occulted by a 84 km asteroid (667) Denise. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and Tycho-2 star position.
The updated path shows ~0.8" south shift with time ~0.5 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path now miss completely South Africa leaving only marginal chance for Cape Town area ~00:59.3 UT. Around 1:07 UT path runs along very east Brazil with some chance for Natal and Fortaleza. Then path runs to Caribic sea area with St.Vincent ~1:10.8 UT, Haiti and Dominican Rep. around 1:12 UT, along eastern coast of Cuba ~01:12.5 UT and finally Texas 01:13.5 UT just south of Houston. Please check the path chart for details.
