                        IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
              (838) Seraphina / TYC 0206-01072-1 on February 20/21, 2002
visible from middle East, Greece, Italy, France, SW England and SW Ireland

    Summary

In the night of February 20/21, 2002 a 10.9 mag star TYC 0206-01072-1 will be occulted by a 63 km asteroid (838) Seraphina. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC star position.

The updated path shows ~4.5 path width north shift with time ~0.3 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

Updated path runs over middle East ~23:27 UT and Greece ~23:29.3 UT. Then path runs over whole Italy from SE ~23:30 UT to NW ~23:31:8 UT with Rome on south limit and Genova, Torino on north limit. Later France from SE to NW is in path around 23:32.4 UT and Paris is ~100km north of path. Cornwall in SW England ~23:33.3 UT and SW Ireland ~23:33.9 UT follow. Much larger area is covered taking uncertainty into consideration. Please check the path chart for details.

    Good luck !
