IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
(500) Selinur / TYC 6854-04079-1 on June 12/13 2002
visible from India, north Africa and Spain
Summary
In night of June 12/13, 2002 a faint 11.0 mag star TYC 6854-04079-1
will be occulted by a 45 km asteroid (500) Selinur. This update is based on
USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC1 star position.
The updated path shows ~13 path width south shift with time ~0.9 minutes earlier compared to
Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs over India around 22:02.6 UT with Hyderabad on south limit,
south Arabic peninsula ~22:07 UT, north Africa between 22:09 UT and 22:13 UT.
Finally path runs over Spain around 22:13.4 UT from southeast to northwest at low altitudes here.
