IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (383) Janina / TYC 6310-00303-1 = SAO 188273 on June 18/19 2002 visible from Ukraine, Moldavia, Romania, Serbia and Italy Summary
In night of June 18/19, 2002 a 10.4 mag star TYC 6310-00303-1 = SAO 188273 will be occulted by a 50 km asteroid (383) Janina. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC1 star position.
The updated path shows ~2 path width south shift with time ~1.0 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs over Ukraine just south of Kiev ~0:54.5 UT, Moldavia ~0:54.7 UT, central Romania around 0:55 UT, Serbia just south of Beograd ~0:55.4 UT and south Italy with Foggia nad Napoli ~0:56.1 UT. Uncertainty is rather large and so also other areas have some possibility - like Hungary and south Spain and Portugal. Please check the path chart for details.
Clear sky and good luck !!!
