    Summary

    In night of June 19/20, 2002 a 11.2 mag star TYC 6369-00957-1 will be occulted by a 124 km asteroid (618) Elfriede. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC1 star position.

    The updated path shows ~1.5 path width easth shift with time ~2.1 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs under twilight over west coast of Scotland ~2:18.3 UT, NE Ireland ~2:18.4 UT, southwest England ~2:18.5 UT. Follows western part of France where Rennes and Nantes are close to central line shortly before 2:19.0 UT, Bordeaux on central line ~2:19.2 UT, Pic du Midi ~2:19.5 UT and finally area west of Barcelona around 2:19.6 UT. Later path runs over west Africa. Please check the path chart for details.

    Path location is rather well defined and runs over areas with many observers. Duration is almost 20 seconds with distinct magnitude drop - good occasion. Clear sky and good luck !!!

    Data for the target star:
     * name: TYC 6369-00957-1
     * constellation: Capricornus
     * J2000 position [h,m,s; o,',"]: 21h 31m 06.5578s; -19o 56' 04.341"

     * V mag [mag]: 11.23
     * B-V [mag]: +0.73
     * remarks:
        Target star is in mid-east Capricornus, about 1.5 degrees west of 4.5 mag star epsilon
        Capricorni = SAO 164520.
        Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
        the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.

    Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE7):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * field is 3.0x3.0 degrees
     * limiting magnitude is 13.0
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * remarks:
