IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
(241) Germania / TYC 1851-00054-1 on September 3/4, 2002
visible from N Egypt, middle East, Iraq, Iran, Turkmenia,
Uzbekistan and Khazachstan
Summary
In the night of September 3/4, 2002 a faint 11.5 mag star TYC 1851-00054-1 will be occulted by a 169 km asteroid (241) Germania. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff for the asteroid and recent UCAC star position.
The updated path shows ~1 path widths south shift with time ~0.7 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs over Egypt ~23:06.8 UT, middle East ~23:07.2 UT, Iraq ~23:07.4 UT,
Iran ~23:07.8 UT, Turkmenia ~23:08.4 UT, Uzbekistan ~23:08.7 UT and Khazachstan ~23:09.4 UT
with Taskent ~23:08.9 UT and Almaty ~23:09.4 UT just south of path.

!!! IMPORTANT !!!
GSC flags this entry as non-star and GSC position refers to photocenter of a pair os stars, where the
secondary star is ~14th mag and ~11" north of target.
Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
