                        IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
          (20) Massalia / SAO 76758 = TYC 1279-00884-1 on September 4/5, 2002
               visible from S America, Carribean, Morocco and Algeria

    Summary

    In the night of September 4/5, 2002 a bright 8.5 mag star SAO 76758 = TYC 1279-00884-1 will be occulted by a 151 km asteroid (20) Massalia. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and CAMC for the asteroid and Tycho-2 star position.

    The updated path shows ~0.2 path widths south shift with time ~0.2 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs over South America and Caribbean area around ~05:00 UT, later after crossing Atlantic ocean path runs between Canary Island and Madeira ~05:03 UT, Morocco ~05:03.6 UT and finally north Algeria under morning twilight ~05:04.5 UT. Please check the path chart for details.

    Clear sky and good luck !!!

     * remarks:
        Target star is in middle Taurus, about 6.3 degrees northeast of 1.0 mag star alpha Tauri = Aldebaran.
        !!! IMPORTANT !!!
        GSC flags this entry as non-star and GSC position refers to photocenter of a pair os stars, where the
        secondary star is ~14th mag and ~11" north of target.
        Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
        the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.

    Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE7):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * field is 4.0x4.0 degrees
     * limiting magnitude is 13.0
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * remarks:
