IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (1112) Polonia / TYC 1183-00030-1 on October 23/24, 2002 visible from Russia, S Belarus, N Ukraine, SE Poland, E Czechia, NW Austria, SE Germany, Switzerland, S France, NW Spain and N Portugal Summary
In the night of October 23/24, 2002 a 10.7 mag star TYC 1183-00030-1 will be occulted by a 40 km asteroid (1112) Polonia. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and recent UCAC star position.
The updated path shows ~1 path width south shift with time ~0.9 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs over Russia around 22:44-22:45 UT with Voronezh on north limit, S Belarus and N Ukraine around 22:46 UT, SE Poland ~22:46.5 UT with Krakow on north limit, E Czechia ~22:47 UT, NW Austria and SE Germany around 22:47.5 UT (Munich is close to north limit), Switzerland ~22:48 UT, S France around 22:49 UT, NW Spain and N Portugal around 22:50 UT.
