IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
(407) Arachne / TYC 1926-00284-1 on October 24/25, 2002
visible from Ireland, England, Netherland, N Germany, Poland and Ukraine
Summary
In the night of October 24/25, 2002 a 10.8 mag star TYC 1926-00284-1 will be occulted by a 98 km asteroid (407) Arachne. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and recent UCAC star position.
The updated path shows ~1.5 path width north shift with time ~0.7 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs over Ireland ~3:30.9 UT with Dublin on north limit, England ~3:31.3 UT with Liverpool on north limit and Birmingham on south limit, N Netherlands ~3:31.7 with Amsterdam on south limit, N Germany around 3:32.1 UT with Hannover and Berlin in path, Poland around 3:32.8 UT with Lodz in path and finally Ukraine from west to east around 3:34 UT with Kiev on north limit and Doneck in path. Follows also Rostov/o/Don in Russia on south limit under strong twilight. Observers within declared uncertainty area should try to observe. Please check the path chart for details.
Clear sky and good luck !!!

Very close to border with Cancer.
!!! IMPORTANT !!!
Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE7):
* occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
* field is 3.0x3.0 degrees
* limiting magnitude is 13.0
* labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
