IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (445) Edna / TYC 2414-00419-1 on December 29/30, 2002 visible from China, Khazachtan, S Russia, S Ukraine, S Moldavia, Romania, frm. Yugoslavia, mid-north Italy, Sardegna, SE Spain and Brasil Summary
In the night of December 29/30, 2002 a faint 10.8 mag star TYC 2414-00419-1 will be occulted by a 90 km asteroid (445) Edna. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and recent UCAC star position.
The updated path shows ~8 path width south shift with time 2.2 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs over China ~23:16 UT, Khazachtan ~23:17-23:18 UT with Almaty in path ~23:16.8 UT, S Russia ~23:19 UT with Rostov in path ~23:19.2 UT, S Ukraine ~23:19.5 UT with Odessa in path ~23:19.8 UT, S Moldavia ~23:20 UT, Romania ~23:20.4 UT, frm. Yugoslavia around 23:20.7 UT with Belgrade in path, mid-north Italy ~23:21.4 UT, Sardinia ~23:21.7 UT, SE Spain ~23:23 UT and finally NE Brasil ~23:29 UT. Please check the path chart for details.
