IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (1035) Amata / TYC 1187-00437-1 on January 2/3, 2003 visible from France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Crimean peninsula and S Russia Summary
In the night of January 2/3, 2003 a 10.7 mag star TYC 1187-00437-1 will be occulted by a 57 km asteroid (1035) Amata. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and recent UCAC star position.
The updated path shows ~10 path width north shift with time 1.9 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs over mid-north France ~20:56.5 UT, north Switzerland ~20:57.0 UT, Austria ~20:57.3 UT, Hungary just south of Budapest ~20:57.5 UT, Romania ~20:57.7 UT, Crimean peninsula ~20:58.0 UT and S Russia ~20:58.2 UT. Within uncertainties also other areas - most of France, south Germany, north Italy, Czechia, Slovakia, Moldavia and SE Ukraine to name some. Please check the path chart for details.
Rather large uncertainty also because of large but not absolutely correct Tycho-2 parallax. This update takes the parallax into account.
Clear sky and good luck !!!

Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
