                (449) Hamburga / TYC 0283-01002-1 on January 5/6, 2003
               visible from Scotland, N Netherlands, N Germany, S Poland,
                               S Ukraine and S Russia
    
    Summary 

    In the night of January 5/6, 2003 a 10.0 mag star TYC 0283-01002-1 will be occulted by a 89 km asteroid (449) Hamburga. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and recent UCAC star position.

    The updated path shows ~4 path width south shift with time 0.2 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs just north of Ireland ~3:05.5 UT, Scotland ~3:05.8 UT with Glasgow on north limit, N Netherlands ~3:06.5 UT, N Germany around 3:07.0 UT with Berlin in path while Hannover is on south limit and Hamburg on north limit. Follows S Poland around ~3:07.6 UT with Wroclaw in path and Krakow on south limit. Later follows S Ukraine around 3:08.8 UT and S Russia ~3:10.3 UT with Krasnodar on south limit and Stavropol in path. Please check the path chart for details.

    No recent opposition astrometry is available, the uncertainty may be larger than indicated.
