                        IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
         (582) Olympia / TYC 5452-01110-1 = SAO 154849 on January 13/14, 2003
            visible from NE Africa, Egypt, E Greece, W Bulgaria, E Serbia,
               W Romania, E Hungary, E Slovakia, Poland and N Sweden

    Summary

    In the night of January 13/14, 2003 a bright 8.8 mag star TYC 5452-01110-1 = SAO 154849 will be occulted by a 47 km asteroid (582) Olympia. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and Tycho-2 star position.

    The updated path shows ~11 path width east shift with time 0.1 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs over NE Africa, Egypt around 01:10 UT~, E Greece ~01:12.4 UT, W Bulgaria ~01:12.6 just west of Sofia, E Serbia ~01:13.0 UT, W Romania ~01:13.3 UT, E Hungary ~01:13.5 UT with Debrecen in path, E Slovakia 01:13.6 UT with Kosice in path, Poland around 01:14.0 UT with path running between Warszawa and Lodz. And finally N Sweden ~01:15.2 UT. Please check the path chart for details.

    Good event, worth of travel effort. As the event lasts only ~5 seconds, video is recommended. Clear sky and good luck !!!

        !!! IMPORTANT !!!
        Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
        the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.

    Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE7):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * field is 3.0x3.0 degrees
     * limiting magnitude is 12.5
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
