(426) Hippo / TYC 0245-00558-1 on February 5/6, 2003
visible from Siberia, N Khazachstan, S Russia, Crimean peninsula,
Bulgaria, Albania, S Italy, N Algeria, N Morocco
Summary
In the night of February 5/6, 2003 a faint 11.2 mag star TYC 0245-00558-1
will be occulted by a 134 km asteroid (426) Hippo. This update is based on
USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and recent UCAC star position.
The updated path shows ~5 path width south shift with time 1.1 minutes earlier compared to
Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs over Siberia ~22:28 UT, N Khazachstan 22:29-22:31 UT, S Russia ~22:31.6 UT,
Crimean peninsula ~22:32.4 UT, Bulgaria ~22:33.5 UT with Sofia in path, Albania ~22:34.1 UT,
S Italy ~22:346 UT with Naples on north limit, N Algeria ~22:36.1 UT and N Morocco ~22:37.0 UT.
