                        IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
                 (366) Vincentina / TYC 2423-00187-1 on April 7/8, 2003
            visible from S Norway, S Sweden, NE Poland, SW Belarus, Ukraine,
                        Crimean peninsula, E Turkey and Iran

    Summary

    In the evening of April 7/8, 2003 a faint 11.6 mag star TYC 2423-00187-1 will be occulted by a 98 km asteroid (366) Vincentina. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and recent UCAC star position.

    The updated path shows ~1 path width SW shift with no time correction compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs over S Norway in evening twilight ~18:55.7 UT, S Sweden ~18:56.0 UT, NE Poland ~18:56.4 UT, SW Belarus ~18:56.5 UT, Ukraine from NW to SE ~18:56.8 UT, Crimean peninsula ~18:57.2 UT, E Turkey ~18:57.6 UT and Iran around 18:58 UT. Please check the path chart for details.

    Clear sky and good luck !!!

    The event at one glimpse:
     * date and approx. UT time of event: April 7, 2003 @ 18:57 UT (Europe)
     * magnitude of target star: 11.6
     * magnitude drop [mag]: 3.2
     * estimated maximum duration [s]: 4.0
     * path description: given above
     * Goffin's original chart reference: A03_0434

    The occultation path:
     * approximate ground width [km]: 120
     * uncertainty [path widths]: 1.3
     * uncertainty in time [s]: 6
     * map: below
     * remarks: Path uncertainties are given according to nominal star
        position errors and expected asteroid positional accuracy.

    Data for the target star:
     * name: TYC 2423-00187-1
     * constellation: Auriga
     * J2000 position [h,m,s; o,',"]: 06h 00m 00.9444s; +32o 12' 00.143"
     * position source: recent UCAC position combined with Tycho-2 proper motion
     * estimated accuracy ["]: 0.03" (0.03", 0.02")
     * V mag [mag]: 11.58
     * B-V [mag]: +0.54
     * remarks:
        Target star is in south Auriga, about 5.0 degrees south of 2.6 mag star theta Aurigae = SAO 58636
        or 1.6 degrees east of open cluster M37. Target star is fainter and southern one in a 31" wide N-S pair of stars.
        !!! IMPORTANT !!!
        Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
        the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.

    Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * field is 3.0x3.0 degrees
     * limiting magnitude is 12.5
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * remarks: Second chart is 30' blowup to show correctly the target star in the field.
