                        IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
          (1149) Volga / TYC 0543-00599-1 = PPM 172161 on July 16/17, 2003
               visible N Morocco and Newfoundland, N Quebec in Canada

    Summary

    In the night of July 16/17, 2003 a bright 9.6 mag star TYC 0543-00599-1 = PPM 172161 will be occulted by a 57 km asteroid (1149) Volga. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2-beta star position.

    The updated path shows ~4 path width south shift with time ~0.3 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs due to south shift over N Morocco ~4:01 UT, later over Newfoundland ~4:10 UT and N Quebec ~4:11 UT in Canada. Please check the path chart for details.

    Clear sky and good luck !!!

        or 18' NE of 5.6 mag star 26 Aquarii = SAO 126997.
        !!! IMPORTANT !!!
        Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
        the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.

    Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * field is 3.0x3.0 degrees
     * limiting magnitude is 13.0
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * remarks: Second chart shows 30' blowup to show correctly the star in field.
