        Target star is in mid-west Pegasus, about 4.2 degrees SW of 3.8 mag star iota Pegasi = SAO 90238.
        It's rather far from bright stars. Only 46" NE of target is 12.6 mag companion.
        !!! IMPORTANT !!!
        Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
        the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.

    Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * field is 3.0x3.0 degrees
     * limiting magnitude is 13.0
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * remarks: Second chart shows 30' blowup to show correctly the star in field.

    Summary

    In the night of July 26/27, 2003 a faint 11.8 mag star TYC 1691-01024-1 will be occulted by a 84 km asteroid (978) Aidamina. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff, TMO and La Silla astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2-beta star position.

    The updated path shows ~1 path width south shift with time ~0.3 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction or ~0.5 path width south and 1.0 minutes earlier compared to Eric Frappa's prediction.

    The difference from 1st update is due to another approach to orbit solution. Current opposition FASTT data showed systematic (but not very large) negative differences in declination when all available 5-opposition data were used as for first update. To fit recent observation in the best way, only two last oppositions had to be retained. This moved the path to south. Which solution should be preferred ? I cant say for sure. Personally I would probably prefer the second one.

    Updated path runs due to south shift over India from SE to NW at 21:43->21:48 UT, Turkey 21:57->22:00 UT, Greece ~22:01 uT, S Albania ~22:01.4 UT, S Italy with Naples ~22:02.4 UT, N Sardegna ~22:03.7 UT, N Spain ~22:05.6 UT with Barcelona in path and N Portugal ~22:06.5 UT with Porto in path. Please check the path chart for details.

    Clear sky and good luck !!!

    Data for the target star:
     * name: TYC 1691-01024-1
     * constellation: Pegasus
     * J2000 position [h,m,s; o,',"]: 21h 59m 38.2444s; +21o 26' 43.974"
     * position source: recent UCAC2 beta

     * V mag [mag]: 11.29
     * B-V [mag]: +2.02
     * remarks:

     * field is 3.0x3.0 degrees
     * limiting magnitude is 13.0
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * remarks: Second chart shows 30' blowup to show correctly the star in field.
