                        IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
                (141) Lumen / TYC 7411-01009-1 on July 31/August 1, 2003
            visible from India, NE Egypt, Crete, Greece, Albania, SW Serbia,
        Croatia, Slovenia, W Hungary, E Austria, Czechia, E Germany and W Poland

    Summary

    In the night of July 31/August 1, 2003 a faint 11.0 mag star TYC 7411-01009-1 will be occulted by a 135 km asteroid (141) Lumen. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2-beta star position.

    The updated path shows ~0.5 path width south shift with time ~0.3 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs due to south shift over India ~20:42.9 UT, NE Egypt ~20:50.5 UT, Crete ~20:51.7 UT, Greece ~20:52.2 UT, Albania ~20:52.6 UT, SW Serbia ~20:52.7 UT, Croatia ~20:53.0 UT, Slovenia ~20:53.2 UT, W Hungary ~20:53.2 UT, E Austria ~20:53.3 UT, Czechia ~20:53.5 UT, E Germany ~20:53.7 and W Poland ~20:53.5 UT. For the last countries the altitude of star is below 7 degrees. :-( Please check the path chart for details.

    Clear sky and good luck !!!

    Data for the target star:
     * name: TYC 7411-01009-1
     * constellation: Sagittarius
     * J2000 position [h,m,s; o,',"]: 18h 44m 13.1874s; -32o 05' 26.579"
     * position source: recent UCAC2 beta
     * estimated accuracy ["]: 0.03" (0.02", 0.02")
     * V mag [mag]: 11.04
     * B-V [mag]: +1.18
     * remarks:
        Target star is in middle-south Sagittarius, about 4.5 degrees southwest of 2.6 mag star zeta Sagitterii = SAO 187600
        or 17' NE of globular cluster M 70.
        !!! IMPORTANT !!!
        Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
        the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.

    Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * field is 3.0x3.0 degrees
     * limiting magnitude is 12.5
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * remarks: Second chart shows 30' blowup to show correctly the star in field.
