                     IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
             (779) Nina / TYC 0513-00206-1 on August 18/19, 2003
            visible from S Russia, N Ukraine, SW Belarus, N Poland,
                           N Germany and Scotland

    Summary

    In the night of August 18/19, 2003 a faint 12.2 mag star TYC 0513-00206-1 will be occulted by a 73 km asteroid (779) Nina. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2-beta star position.

    The updated path shows ~6 path width north shift with time ~0.4 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs due to north shift over S Russia ~20:21 UT, N Ukraine ~20:22.5 UT with Kharkov and Kiev in path, SW Belarus ~20:23.7 UT, N Poland ~20:24.2 UT with Warsaw in path, N Germany ~20:25.3 UT and Scotland ~20:26.8 UT with Glasgow in path. Please check the path chart for details.
    Please remember that magnitude drop is only 0.24 mag so this is not observable visually !!!

    Clear sky and good luck !!!

     * uncertainty in time [s]: 6
     * map: below
     * remarks: Path uncertainties are given according to nominal star
        position errors and expected asteroid positional accuracy.

    Data for the target star:
     * name: TYC 0513-00206-1
     * constellation: Aquarius
     * J2000 position [h,m,s; o,',"]: 20h 55m 03.8431s; +00o 23' 04.118"
     * position source: recent UCAC2 beta
     * estimated accuracy ["]: 0.03" (0.02", 0.02")
     * V mag [mag]: 12.19
     * B-V [mag]: +0.60
     * remarks:
        Target star is in north-west Aquarius, rather far from bright stars.
        !!! IMPORTANT !!!
        Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
        the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.

    Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * field is 3.0x3.0 degrees
     * limiting magnitude is 13.0
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * remarks: Second chart shows 30' blowup to show correctly the star in field.
