                       IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
             (27) Euterpe / TYC 6844-03116-1 = PPM 733878 on September 23/24, 2003
              visible from N France, SE England, Belgium, Netherlands, N Germany

    Summary

    In the night of September 23/24, 2003 a bright 9.7 mag star TYC 6844-03116-1 = PPM 733878 will be occulted by a 124 km asteroid (27) Euterpe. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.

    The updated path shows ~1 path width north shift with time ~0.1 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs due to north shift over N France and SE England ~20:24.7 UT, Belgium ~20:24.9 UT, Netherlands ~20:24.9 UT and N Germany ~20:25.0 UT. However only for observers in England and west France the star will be high enough to observe the event reliably. Please check the path chart for details.

    Clear sky and good luck !!!

        Target star is in middle Sagittarius, about 2.4 degrees northwest of 2.8 mag star lambda Sagittarii = SAO 186841.
        !!! IMPORTANT !!!
        Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
        the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.

    Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * field is 3.5x3.5 degrees
     * limiting magnitude is 12.0
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * remarks: Second chart shows 30' blowup to show correctly the star in field.
