IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
(564) Dudu / TYC 1940-00086-1 on October 18/19, 2003
visible from Haiti, Scotland and S Norway
Summary
In the night of October 18/19, 2003 a faint 10.5 mag star TYC 1940-00086-1 will be occulted by a 51 km asteroid (564) Dudu. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and Ondrejov astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.
The updated path shows ~1 path width north shift with time ~0.1 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs due to north shift over Haiti ~5:30.4 UT, Scotland 5:35.6 UT and S Norway ~5:36.3 UT.
Please check the path chart for details.
Waning Moon is only 6 degrees south of target star.Clear sky and good luck !!!

* remarks:
Target star is in north Cancer, about 7.5 degrees east of 1.2 mag star beta Geminorum = SAO 79666.
!!! IMPORTANT !!!
Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE8):
* occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
* field is 3.0x3.0 degrees
* limiting magnitude is 13.0
* labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
* remarks: Second chart shows 30' blowup to show correctly the star in field.
