                      IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
             (410) Chloris / TYC 1372-02290-1 on November 19/20, 2003
               visible from Crete, Greece, Albania, frm. Yugoslavia,
                   Slovenia, Austria, Germany and N Netherlands

    Summary

    In the night of November 19/20, 2003 a faint 10.4 mag star TYC 1372-02290-1 will be occulted by a 128 km asteroid (410) Chloris. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff, TMO and Ondrejov astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.

    The updated path shows ~0.5 path width west shift with time ~0.1 minute later earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs due to west shift over Crete ~4:35.5 UT, Greece ~4:36.8 UT, Albania ~4:37.9 UT, frm. Yugoslavia ~4:39.0 UT, Slovenia ~4:40.0 UT, Austria ~4:40.5 UT, Germany from SE to NW around 4:42 UT and finally N Netherlands ~4:43.0 UT. Please check the path chart for details.

    Clear sky and good luck !!!

    The event at one glimpse:
     * date and approx. UT time of event: November 20, 2003 @ 04:41 UT (Europe)
     * magnitude of target star: 10.4
     * magnitude drop [mag]: 3.5
     * estimated maximum duration [s]: 24.2
     * path description: given above
     * Goffin's original chart reference: A03_1125

    The occultation path:
     * approximate ground width [km]: 160
     * uncertainty [path widths]: 0.5
     * uncertainty in time [s]: 14
     * map: below
     * remarks: Path uncertainties are given according to nominal star
        position errors and expected asteroid positional accuracy.

    Data for the target star:
     * name: TYC 1372-02290-1
     * constellation: Gemini
     * J2000 position [h,m,s; o,',"]: 07h 29m 50.1554s; +21o 48' 01.222"
     * position source: UCAC2
     * estimated accuracy ["]: 0.03" (0.02", 0.02")
     * V mag [mag]: 10.40
     * B-V [mag]: +0.48
     * remarks:
        Target star is in south Gemini, about 2.3 degrees east of 3.5 mag star delta Geminorum = SAO 79294
        or ~54' north of planetary nebula NGC 2392 = Eskymo nebula. Only 2' west of target is 9.4 mag star
        SAO 79435 = PPM 97435.
        !!! IMPORTANT !!!
        Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
        the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.

    Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * field is 3.0x3.0 degrees
     * limiting magnitude is 12.5
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * remarks: Second chart shows 30' blowup to show correctly the star in field.
