                      IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
            (362) Havnia / TYC 2412-00529-1 on December 12/13, 2003
       visible from Alaska, N Finland, Sweden, very S Norway and N Denmark

    Summary

    In the night of December 12/13, 2003 a faint 11.3 mag star TYC 2412-00529-1 will be occulted by a 53 km asteroid (362) Havnia. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.

    The updated path shows ~0.5 path width north shift with time 0.3 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs due to north shift over Alaska ~16:01 UT, N Finland ~16:08.7 UT, Sweden from NE to SW around 16:09.4 UT, very S Norway ~16:09.8 UT and N Denmark ~16:10.0 UT. Please check the path chart for details.

    Target is southwest star in a 29" wide equal bright pair named SEI 360.

    Here is current station list for European cities.

    Clear sky and good luck !!!

     * V mag [mag]: 11.26
     * B-V [mag]: +0.28
     * remarks:
        Target star is in south Auriga, about 5.2 degrees southwest of 2.6 mag star theta Aurigae = SAO 58636 or
        about 0.5 degree northeast of open cluster M36.
        Target is southwest star in a 29" wide equal bright pair named SEI 360.
        !!! IMPORTANT !!!
        Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
        the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.

    Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * field is 3.0x3.0 degrees
     * limiting magnitude is 12.5
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * remarks: Second chart shows 3 degrees blowup to show correctly the star in field.
