In the night of December 22/23, 2003 a bright 6.2 mag star HIP 23799 = SAO 40029 will be occulted by a 57 km asteroid (925) Alphonsina. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff, TMO and Ondrejov astrometry for the asteroid and Hipparcos star position.
The updated path shows ~6 path width south shift with no time shift compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs due to south shift over NE China ~21:44 UT, Siberia 21:44.5->21:47.0 UT, N Russia around 21:48 UT, SE Estonia ~21:49.4 UT, Latvia ~21:49.5 UT, NW Lithuania ~21:49.8 UT, NW Poland ~21:50.3 UT, Germany from NE to SW around 21:51.0 UT with Berlin in path 51:50.6 UT, France from NE to SW around 21:51.9 UT, Spain from N to SW around 51:52.9 UT with Madrid just SE of path, S Portugal ~21:53.4 UT and finally Canary Islands with Teide Observatory ~21:54.9 UT.
