IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (1024) Hale / HIP 72388 = SAO 140145 on March 23/24, 2004 visible from Asia, Caucasus area, Crimea, Moldavia, N Romania, NE Hungary, Slovakia, Czechia, middle Germany, Netherlands, N England and North Ireland Summary
In the night of March 23/24, 2004 a bright 7.8 mag star HIP 72388 = SAO 140145 will be occulted by a 43 km asteroid (1024) Hale. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and Hipparcos star position.
The updated path shows ~2 path width north shift with small time correction compared to Eric Frappa's nominal prediction. Second update will possibly follow if new observations from this opposition will appear.
Updated path runs over Asia 22:56-23:01 UT, Caucasus area around 23:02.2 UT, Crimea ~23:03.6 UT, Moldavia ~23:03.2 UT, N Romania ~23:04.5 UT, NE Hungary ~23:04.9 UT, Slovakia ~23:05.0 UT, Czechia ~23:05.5 UT, middle Germany ~23:05.9 UT, Netherlands ~23:06.1 UT, N England ~23:06.5 UT and North Ireland ~23:06.7 UT.
