                         IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
            (1749) Telamon / TYC 6746-00571-1 = SAO 182823 on May 6/7, 2004
                          visible from equatoreal Africa

    Summary

    In the night of May 6/7, 2004 a bright 8.7 mag star TYC 6746-00571-1 = SAO 182823 will be occulted by a 115 km asteroid (1749) Telamon. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and Tycho-2 star position.

    The updated path shows ~1" south shift with time ~2 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs over equatoreal Africa ~23:00-23:06 UT. No chance for Europe. Please check the path chart for details.

    Finding charts (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * (smaller) square box shows 30' field in all wider field charts
     * (larger) square box shows 3° field in wide field charts
     * remarks:
       Target star is in SE Libra, about 7.1 degrees SSW of 2.7 mag star alpha Librae = SAO 158840.
       Northern star in a 1.6' wide pair, other star is SAO 182825 (8.8 mag).
       !!! IMPORTANT !!!
       Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
       the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
