IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (37) Fides / TYC 6783-00143-1 on May 28/29, 2004 visible from Asia, Middle East, S Turkey, Greece, S Albania, Italy, Switzerland, N France and England Summary
In the night of May 28/29, 2004 a faint 11.8 mag star TYC 6783-00143-1 will be occulted by a 108 km asteroid (37) Fides. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff, TMO a OAC astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.
The updated path shows ~1 path width south shift with time ~0.4 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs over Asia, Middle East, S Turkey ~21:10.6 UT, Greece ~21:11.5 UT, S Albania ~21:11.6 UT, Italy ~21:12.2 UT, Switzerland ~21:12.5 UT, N France ~21:12.7 UT and England ~21:12.9 UT at low altitudes. Please check the path chart for details.

Finding charts (prepared in GUIDE8): * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers * (smaller) square box shows 30' field in all wider field charts * (larger) square box shows 3° field in wide field charts * remarks: Target star is in north Scorpion, about midway between delta Scorpii = SAO 184014 (2.3 mag) and pi Scorpii = SAO 183987 (2.8 mag). !!! IMPORTANT !!! Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs.
