                         IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
                 (780) Armenia / TYC 0418-00502-1 on June 5/6, 2004
            visible from N Turkey, N Greece, S Albania, S Italy, Sardegna,
                     Baleares, middle Spain and middle Portugal

    Summary

    In the night of June 5/6, 2004 a faint 11.7 mag star TYC 0418-00502-1 will be occulted by a 97 km asteroid (780) Armenia. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.

    The updated path shows ~3 path width south shift with time ~0.1 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs over N Turkey ~22:54.7 UT, N Greece ~22:55.9 UT, S Albania ~22:56.0 UT, S Italy ~22:56.5 UT, Sardinia ~22:57.3 UT, Baleares ~22:57.9 UT, middle Spain ~22:58.5 UT and middle Portugal ~22:59.0 UT. Please check the path chart for details.

    Finding charts (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * (smaller) square box shows 30' field in all wider field charts
     * (larger) square box shows 3° field in wide field charts
     * remarks:
       Target star is in middle Ophiuchus, about 3.5 degrees southwest of 2.7 mag star beta Ophiuchi = SAO 122671.
       !!! IMPORTANT !!!
       Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
       the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
