IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
(419) Aurelia / TYC 5558-00816-1 = SAO 158424 on July 26/27, 2004
visible from Spain, Baleares, S Sardinia, S Italy and Sicilia,
Greece and Turkey
Summary
In the night of July 26/27, 2004 a bright 9.4 mag star TYC 5558-00816-1 = SAO 158424 will be occulted by a 133 km asteroid (419) Aurelia. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.
The updated path shows ~1.5 path width south shift with no time shift compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs over Spain ~20:06.7 UT, Baleares ~20:07.1 UT, S Sardinia ~20:07.4 UT, S Italy and Sicilia ~20:07.8 UT, Greece ~20:08.3 UT and Turkey ~20:08.6 UT at low altitudes. Please check the path chart for details.

Finding charts (prepared in GUIDE8):
* occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
* labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
* (smaller) square box shows 30' field in all wider field charts
* (larger) square box shows 3° field in wide field charts
* remarks:
Target star is in southeast Virgo, about 1.7 degrees south of 4.2 mag star kappa Virginis = SAO 158427.
!!! IMPORTANT !!!
Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
