                         IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
             (88) Thisbe / TYC 6276-01497-1 on September 28/29, 2004
           visible from N England and Scotland in strong twilight, N Denmark,
                         S Norway and S Sweden at low altitudes

    Summary

    In the night of September 28/29, 2004 a faint 10.3 mag star TYC 6276-01497-1 will be occulted by a 232 km asteroid (88) Thisbe. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff, TMO and Hipparcos astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.

    The updated path shows no path shift with time ~0.2 minute later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs over N England and Scotland in strong twilight ~17:55.6 UT, N Denmark ~17:56.3 UT, S Norway ~17:56.2 UT and S Sweden ~17:56.4 UT at low altitudes. Please check the path chart for details.

    Finding charts (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * (smaller) square box shows 30' field in all wider field charts
     * (larger) square box shows 3° field in wide field charts
     * remarks:
       Target star is in NW Sagittarius, about 0.6 degrees SW of 3.8 mag star mu Sagittarii = SAO 186497.
       !!! IMPORTANT !!!
       Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
       the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
