                         IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
             (56) Melete / TYC 0651-00524-1 on November 2/3, 2004
           visible from Siberia, N Khazachstan, S Russia, NW Turkey,
                              and NW Africa

    Summary

    In the night of November 2/3, 2004 a faint 10.2 mag star TYC 0651-00524-1 will be occulted by a 117 km asteroid (56) Melete. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.

    The updated path shows ~2 path width S shift with time ~0.3 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs over Siberia around 21:49 UT, N Khazachstan ~21:51 UT, S Russia ~21:52.6 UT, NW Turkey ~21:54.2 UT and NW Africa 21:57-22:00 UT. Please check the path chart for details.

    Finding charts (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * (smaller) square box shows 30' field in all wider field charts
     * (larger) square box shows 3° field in wide field charts
     * remarks:
       Target star is in SE Aries, about 3.2 degrees NW of 3.6 mag star omicron Tauri = SAO 111172.
       !!! IMPORTANT !!!
       Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
       the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
