                         IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
             (308) Polyxo / HIP 57629 = SAO 138420 on November 15/16, 2004
                 visible from N Portugal, Spain, Mallorca, S Sardinia,
                          N Tunisia, S Sicilia and Malta

    Summary

    In the night of November 15/16, 2004 a bright 6.2 mag star HIP 57629 = SAO 138420 will be occulted by a 148 km asteroid (308) Polyxo. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and Hipparcos star position.

    The updated path shows ~1 path width S shift with time ~0.3 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs over N Portugal ~5:16.3 UT, Spain ~5:16.4 UT, Mallorca ~5:16.5 UT, S Sardinia ~5:16.7 UT, N Tunisia ~5:16.8 UT, S Sicilia ~5:16.9 UT and Malta ~5:16.9 UT. Please check the path chart for details.

    Finding charts (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * (smaller) square box shows 30' field in all wider field charts
     * (larger) square box shows 3° field in wide field charts
     * remarks:
       Target star is in west Virgo, about 2.1 degrees SSW of 3.6 mag star beta Virginis = SAO 119076.
       !!! IMPORTANT !!!
       Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
       the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
