    Summary

    In the night of December 12/13, 2004 a faint 11.4 mag star TYC 0144-01868-1 will be occulted by a 178 km asteroid (85) Io. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.

    The updated path shows ~1.0 path width N shift with no time shift compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs over Siberia ~21:58->21:01 UT, Russia ~21:03 UT, N Ukraine ~21:04.1 UT, Slovakia ~21:05.0 UT, Hungary ~21:05.1 UT, Austria ~21:05.5 UT, Slovenia ~21:05.6 UT, N Italy ~21:05.8 UT, S Switzerland ~21:05.9 UT, S France ~21:06.5 UT, NW Spain ~21:07.0 UT and N Portugal ~21:07.2 UT. Please check the path chart for details.

    Finding charts (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * (smaller) square box shows 30' field in all wider field charts
     * (larger) square box shows 3° field in wide field charts
     * remarks:
       Target star is in E Orion, about 5.3 degrees E of 0.6 mag star alpha Orionis = Betelgeuse = SAO 113271.
       !!! IMPORTANT !!!
       Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
       the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
