IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
(726) Joella / UCAC2 28588616 = GSC 5691-1042 on June 15/16, 2005
visible from Africa, S Spain and Portugal
Summary
In the night of June 15/16, 2005 a faint 11.9 mag star UCAC2 28588616 = GSC 5691-1042 will be occulted by a 47 km asteroid (726) Joella. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.
The updated path shows ~3 path width N shift with time 0.1 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.
Updated path runs over Africa 23:46-23:54 UT, S Spain ~23:55.4 UT and Portugal ~23:55.7 UT. Please check the path chart for details.

Finding charts (prepared in GUIDE8):
* occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
* labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
* (smaller) square box shows 30' field in all wider field charts
* (larger) square box shows 3° field in wide field charts
* remarks:
Target star is in middle Scutum, about 50' SSE of 3.8 mag star alpha Scuti = SAO 142408.
!!! IMPORTANT !!!
Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
