                    IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
       (90) Antiope / UCAC2 21638930 = GSC 6864-00102 on September 15/16, 2005
visible from south Europe and NW Africa

    Summary

In the evening of night September 15/16, 2005 a faint 12.3 mag star UCAC2 21638930 = GSC 6864-00102 will be occulted by a 85 km asteroid (90) Antiope. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.

The updated path shows for the photocenter no shift with time ~0.1 minutes earlier compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

Updated path for at least one component runs over N Algeria, N Tunis, Sicily, S Italy, Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, S Romania, S Ukraine and S Russia. Please check the path chart for details.

I have used the model where both components have 85km diameter, and predicted offsets from mass center (photocenter) are:
    Primary: 27.7 mas W, 45.1 mas S
    Secondary: 27.7 mas E, 45.1 mas N
and were provided by Jean Lecacheux.

Here is current station list for European cities and observatories plus other sites.

Clear sky and good luck !!!

    Finding charts (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * (smaller) square box shows 30' field in all wider field charts
     * (larger) square box shows 3° field in wide field charts
     * remarks:
Target star is in middle Sagittarius, about 1.3 degrees NNE of 2.0 mag star sigma Sagittarii = SAO 187448.
       !!! IMPORTANT !!!
Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
