                    IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
       (814) Tauris / UCAC2 36961808 = GSC 0742-00767 on September 15/16, 2005
                visible from N Morocco, SE Spain, Sardinia and S Italy

    Summary

    In the morning of night September 15/16, 2005 a faint 12.0 mag star UCAC2 36961808 = GSC 0742-00767 will be occulted by a 116 km asteroid (814) Tauris. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2 star position.

    The updated path shows ~1 path width north shift with time ~0.2 minutes later compared to Edwin Goffin's nominal prediction.

    Updated path runs over N Morocco ~4:29.8 UT, SE Spain ~4:30.0 UT, Sardinia ~4:30.8 UT and S Italy ~4:31.2 UT in strong twilight. Please check the path chart for details.

    Finding charts (prepared in GUIDE8):
     * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
     * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
     * (smaller) square box shows 30' field in all wider field charts
     * (larger) square box shows 3° field in wide field charts
     * remarks:
       Target star is in NE Orion, about 6.9 degrees ESE of 2.0 mag star gamma Geminorum = SAO 95912.
       !!! IMPORTANT !!!
       Purple stars in identification chart are so called 'non-star' objects in GSC; in dense fields
       the 'non-stars' are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
